Dynamic Digital Signage

Dynamic digital signage combines the traditional elements of classic digital signage such as video playlists, still images, ticker tapes and information widgets with context specific customization. A display that is context aware is then able to play dynamic content based on the viewer profile at that location. There are a number of technologies that can be applied to drive dynamic displays. The choice of technology is dependent on the purpose of the dynamic display.

  • The foremost element of a dynamic display, and the most widely used, is the ability of digital signage software to enable a system administrator to tailor make a specific playlist for a location or set of locations. These are traditionally called channels.
  • Another approach would be to introduce interactivity into the dynamic display and allow the viewer to interact with the signage device through touch screen, mobile phone, RFID and various other technologies. The application of these types of customer engagement technologies is rapidly gaining momentum in the market place.
  • Through the use of GPS technologies, dynamic displays can become location aware. Content can be specifically made to play in a variety of pre-defined locations. Dynamic displays can then be programmed with a variety of GPS co-ordinates that trigger playback when the in-vehicle display enters into the active playback radius of the GPS co-ordinate.
